FLIGHT OPERATIONS

  1. WB1 - Weight and Balance Fundamentals and Passenger Aircraft Considerations

This 5-day workshop covers the fundamental principles of weight and balance and focuses on the Boeing passenger aircraft fleet. This workshop includes principles that are required to attend the follow-on courses "WB2 - Weight and Balance Introduction to Loading Schedule Design" and " WB3 - Weight and Balance Freighter Aircraft Considerations”. This workshop begins with the basics of how to calculate moments and centers of gravity, plus a review of weight and center of gravity definitions and limitations. It continues with discussion about the meaning and use of the information published in Chapters 1 and 2 of the Boeing Weight and Balance Manuals, airplane weighing regulations and procedures, and calculation of an aircraft’s basic empty weight, dry operating weight, and takeoff weight. The final day of the workshop introduces loading schedules and their use.

Target Audience: This workshop is suitable for those who are new to airplane weight and balance work, as well as for those with some background or experience who wish to gain a more in-depth understanding of the subject matter.

  1. Climbout Performance Analysis using PET Workshop

This course covers how to use Climbout function of PET to generate flight path and actual performance data for departure, arrival, and missed approach procedures. Instructions include software installation, database import, airport/runway data management, building profiles and running cases, and output interpretation. The course begins with a review of terminal area procedures, followed by increasingly complex flight profile analysis of gradient, speed, and altitude constraints. Both all-engine and engine-out analyses are addressed.

Target Audience: Airplane Performance Engineers, Flight Operations Engineers. Completion of Airplane Performance Analysis (or equivalent experience) is recommended prior to attendance in this workshop.

  1. PET Application in Operation Practice Workshop

This workshop provides comprehensive instruction on aircraft performance analysis using the Boeing Performance Engineers Tool (PET). Participants will learn about the parameters for different performance options and apply PET to daily operations.

The workshop covers PET’s major calculation modules — including takeoff, enroute, and landing — demonstrates how to use PET for engineering analysis, including interpreting PET output data and studying the effect of different input parameters or options on performance outputs. Through guided exercises, participants will gain hands on experience with PET’s interface, data inputs, table output and graph output, and know the best practices for effectively using the tool to support daily operational safety and efficiency.

Target Audience: This workshop is recommended for Airplane Performance Engineer, Flight Operations Engineer and personnel who have some background or experience in airplane performance and wish to gain a more in-depth understanding of the subject. Prior completion of an Airplane Performance Analysis course (or equivalent experience) is recommended before attending this workshop.

  1. Flight Operations Symposium

Boeing Global Support Center (GSC) Flight Operations Symposium is to serve as a platform for Boeing operators to share their best practices in airplane performance/flight ops optimization, and exchange ideas on the development of tools/methodologies for efficiency improvement and safety enhancement on the flight operations. Boeing subject experts are also invited to present Boeing's latest product and services, as well as industry’s best practices and manufacturer's recommendations on specific issues that affect this region.

Target Audience: Flight Operation Professionals in the region.
